Position: Administrative Research Coordinator (Part Time)
Job Summary:
The APEX Administrative Research Coordinator is a vital position within the American Porphyrias Expert Collaborative, responsible for managing research grants with healthcare professionals and supporting the organization with administrative tasks such as basic membership management, invoicing, and secretarial duties. This role is crucial to the facilitation of fundamental, translational, and clinical research in the fields of the Porphyrias and heme biosynthesis, and increasing knowledge of the porphyrias among physicians and scientists.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Grant Management: Oversee and manage research grants in collaboration with healthcare professionals, ensuring compliance with all grant requirements and timely reporting.
- Administrative Support: Provide administrative support to the organization, including secretarial duties, basic membership management, and invoicing.
- Research Facilitation: Assist in the facilitation of fundamental, translational, and clinical research in the fields of the Porphyrias and heme biosynthesis.
- Communication: Serve as a liaison between the organization, healthcare professionals, and researchers to enhance communication and collaboration.
- Event Coordination: Assist in organizing and coordinating meetings, conferences, and other events related to research and education in the field of Porphyrias.
- Data Management: Maintain and update databases related to research activities, grants, and membership.
- Reporting: Prepare and submit regular reports on research activities, grant progress, and administrative tasks to the board and other stakeholders.
- Documentation: Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping for all research and administrative activities.
- Support to Researchers: Provide logistical support to researchers, including assistance with scheduling, travel arrangements, and resource procurement.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to all relevant regulations and guidelines related to research and grant management.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in related field.
- Understanding or interest in the Porphyrias is a plus.
Location:
This part-time position can be home-based or performed at UPA’s office in Bethesda, MD. Candidates who reside within a close driving distance to Bethesda are preferred, but for the right person we are open to hiring from anywhere in the United States.
